How not to catch a cold in winter?

  • When going outside put on clothes taking into account weather and temperature. One should wear scarf, cap and gloves in winter. Thus, the risk of cold and complications is decreased.
  • Try not to be in the freezing cold for long, especially when strong wind blows. If you need to spend certain time outside, walk sometimes into stores and other premises in order to get warm.
  • If you are going for a walk or plan outdoor activities (for example, to go skiing, sleighing, or to play winter games), don't forget that snow can wet your clothes.
  • Purchase vitamin complexes in drugstores. Include more fruit and vegetables in your diet, eat them fresh.
  • Drink hot tea with a lemon during a day, you can add mint, camomile or other herbs in it. It is also useful to drink warm milk with honey and berries compotes.
  • You can also possible purchase drugs for prevention of cold-related diseases in drugstores, so they always can be near at hand in case of feeling unwell. Also, you should see a doctor at the first symptoms of cold and observe his instructions, for the speedy recovery.
  • Try not to overwork, to find time for rest and healthy sleep. It can’t hurt to perform daily exercises and gymnastics for strengthening of organism.
  • Don't drink cooled drinks and don't eat ice cream in cold months. Being in public transport, try to stay far away from people who cough, sneeze and blow nose, or to dress a special face dressing.
  • Air your room regularly. For the period of airing, don’t stay in the room. If heating of battery doesn't help, you’d better use heater.
  • Make a mental note of rule to wash hands before eating and after returning from street. It is useful to rinse mouth with sage or special liquid every day, since during the day we communicate with various people and some of them can have cold even if signs haven't appeared yet. Remember that flu doesn’t appear at once, but after a while after infection with a virus.
